Criterion® Speakers T+A continues successful product line with new loudspeaker

Herford, February 27th 2024: Germany's leading high-end specialist T+A elektroakustik continues refining its speaker portfolio with the introduction of the first model in the new Criterion series. The new Criterion S 230 brings the design language, innovative technologies, and unique craftsmanship of the Solitaire series into an attractive new price range with a suggested retail price of US $11,990. The new Criterion speakers are now available for order and will be delivered starting in April 2024.

"Our Solitaire speaker series serves as a technology showcase and design benchmark: all new speaker models are derived from them – both technically and visually," says T+A's COO Conradin Amft during the presentation of the Criterion S 230 – the first model of the new Criterion series from the luxury company based in Herford.

The close relation between the new Criterion S 230 and the Solitaire series is evident by simply looking at the speaker front: Like the Solitaire S 430, the Criterion S 230 features T+A's highly acclaimed Symmetric Directivity Design, which utilizes two midrange drivers and one tweeter to mitigate harmful reflections and sound impurities. However, the specialists from Herford haven't simply adopted a proven technology; they have fundamentally reworked the Symmetric Directivity System of the Solitaire S 430 and tailored it to its new driver, a magnesium tweeter. "Having developed this new tweeter, allows us to make our Symmetric Directivity System accessible in entirely new price ranges," says project leader Max Kirschke.

In the bass range, T+A bestows the new Criterion with the latest generation of MultiResonator Transmissionline Technology, building on the MultiResonator and Compensated Transmissionline Systems of previous Criterion series. A precisely calculated MultiResonator structure on the inside of the speaker, resembling an organ pipe, maximizes sound pressure in the low-frequency range and simultaneously ensures excellent transient and impulse response: Sound colorations and inaccuracies are thus excluded before they can occur.

"With all our focus on technology, one thing was particularly important to us," says founder and CEO Siegfried Amft during the presentation, "With the Criterion, we didn't just want to set ourselves a technical challenge, but above all, we wanted to bring to life our vision of an uncompromisingly audiophile-tuned, high-quality crafted, and uniquely designed speaker that reconciles audiophile sound reproduction with a progressive design."

This is why the Herford based family-owned company provides its customers with a wide range of speaker finishes: The new Criterion S 230 is available in a satin matt rubbed lacquer silver, satin matt rubbed lacquer black, and Makassar.

All Criterion S 230 models are now available for order at US $11,990 and will be delivered to authorized dealers starting in April 2024.
