New York, NY, September 28, 2015--Antipodes Audio (an TIP uh deez), New Zealand-based manufacturer of industry-leading audio servers, is pleased to be exhibiting two server models in Room 542 of the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, October 2-4, 2015. Being shown are the DX, listed this month in Class A+ of Stereophile's Recommended Components, and the all-new, third-generation DS.
The state-of-the-art Antipodes DX is available with a range of solid-state storage options, beginning at $6500 for 1TB. The DX range provides extraordinary sound quality, exceeding that of competitive models at many times its price. The DX utilizes SSD (solid state drive) storage for the lowest possible noise levels, and features a sophisticated implementation of Antipodes' proprietary linear power supplies. The DX represents the ultimate in servers, with dynamic, engaging sound that must be heard to be believed. The DX is available in either black or silver finish.
The Antipodes DS, at $2750 with 1 TB of HDD (hard disc drive) storage, brings much of the DX's incredible core technology and sound-quality to a much lower price point. While the DS is the lowest-priced model in the line, this third-generation model utilizes an innovative proprietary hybrid power supply which contains some switching elements, coupled with a quiet, linear output. The DS is available with a variety of storage options in HDD and SSD, and features both analog and USB outputs. Its small form-factor will allow the DS to be utilized in many installations where space is at a premium. The DS is available in both silver and black.
“For a great music server you must use a high quality power supply with large peak reserves that has been designed specifically for the task that a music server has to perform," said Mark Jenkins, Founder and CEO. "Providing that for the DS, given its low price-point, is a challenge. To keep the power supply cost down we have designed a linear supply with some switching elements, which improve the efficiency of the power supply and reduces the size and cost of the required transformer. But the output of the power supply is still linear and low noise, and together with an improved USB output card, this yields a substantial improvement in naturalness and ease compared to previous DS models.
“Putting numbers on these things is hard, but we consider that the new DS bridges half of the gap between the DX and the previous DS model. Given we have kept the price the same as for the previous generation DS, we consider the new DS a major breakthrough in our quest to bring a good chunk of the DX's performance to a much lower price-point. We're certain that the DS has better sound-quality than any other server below $5000."
All models of Antipodes servers feature bit-perfect auto-ripping of CDs; bit-perfect playback of files up to DXD and Double-DSD; and remote control from any computer, tablet, or smartphone by way of SqueezeBox-compatible apps. While circuitry and power supplies vary from model to model, all are notably free of the sonic glare that is characteristic of many digital audio products, especially lesser-quality servers. All models feature substantial build-quality and internal layout and construction optimized for both low noise and maximum sound quality.
At RMAF, the DX and DS will be demonstrated in room 542 with dealer Well Pleased AV in a system including loudspeakers from Alta Audio and components from Nuprime, Aqua Acoustic Quality and Grand Prix Audio, with cabling by Waveform Fidelity. Show hours are Noon-7 PM on Friday, 10/2; 9 AM-6 PM on Saturday,10/3; 9 AM-4 PM on Sunday,10/4.
About Antipodes Audio: Founded in 2004 in Auckland, New Zealand by Mark Jenkins, Antipodes Audio initially focused on developing time-coherent audio cables based upon Jenkins' unique theories of signal transmission. In 2009, the company began research into why most digital audio sources fail to engage the listener as analog sources do. That research led to the development of audio servers which eliminate problems at the outset, rather than attempting 'band-aid" fixes, as most digital sources do. Antipodes Audio servers are known worldwide for their leading-edge technology and unrivaled sound quality. The Antipodes DX Reference is listed in Stereophile magazine's Recommended Components Class A+, and the new model DS brings unmatched performance to the under-$3000 class.
