In the photo, the tweeters are firing well below ear-level, and the smearing of the bass off the desk surface is muddying things up. I've lived with and without the stands, and I can say with complete confidence that they are not a mere tweak; they are absolutely essential for the desktop. I enjoy the Steinway record label very much and wish Mr. Feidner all the best.
