Paris, March 18th , 2024 - Qobuz, the French high-quality music streaming and download platform, is joining forces with the highly respected jazz label, ECM. This global initiative will feature exclusive playlists, editorial content, and original videos in collaboration with ECM artists to celebrate the legendary Munich label. The initiative will also feature a wide selection of download offers from the German publisher's vast catalog, including releases from many notable artists past and present, from Keith Jarrett and John Scofield to Avishai Cohen, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny and many more - most of them in full 24-bit Hi-Res.
The collaboration with ECM Records is the latest development in Qobuz's initiatives to offer music lovers across multiple genres a unique and exceptional service, as the market leader in original content. In 2022 and 2023, Qobuz collaborated with two other renowned labels, Blue Note and Deutsche Grammophon, on global initiatives highlighting both their historical catalogs and contemporary releases.
The new partnership with ECM aims to showcase the label’s legendary catalog, new releases and emerging artists, including iconic 20th-century recordings by Keith Jarrett, Charlie Haden, John Surman, Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, Jan Garbarek, Ralph Towner, Nik Bärtsch, Anouar Brahem, Dominic Miller and more. The multi-platform campaign will include special offers in the Qobuz download store and new, featured content in the streaming apps and magazine, with carefully selected playlists and artist videos paying tribute to the label. Most of the catalog will come in 24-bit Hi-Res.
"Qobuz has been a constant supporter of ECM productions, the label that many people like to describe as 'the most beautiful sound after silence'. Manfred Eicher, its founder, does not live 'out of time' but in 'a time parallel' to that of society, making his legendary label a planet of beauty where jazz resonates in a different way. And it was often for ECM that Keith Jarrett, Charles Lloyd, Jan Garbarek, Chick Corea and so many others recorded their most intense albums... Our partnership with ECM embodies the essence of Qobuz: offering a high-quality musical experience, enriched by original content and cutting-edge editorial content. These collaborations are a concrete illustration of our commitment to delivering music of unbeatable quality, through a catalog rich in Hi-Res titles that enhance our musical heritage while promoting the voices of tomorrow." explains Marc Zisman, Chief of Music at Qobuz.
“ECM Records is delighted to deepen the close collaboration with Qobuz and to guide its listeners along the various paths of the catalog. The carefully curated work at Qobuz and its high-grade streaming service with its focus on high-resolution quality adhere to the sonic standards the label set many decades ago,” says ECM.
In 1984, the label introduced its New Series, dedicated to notated music, with the release of the highly influential album “Tabula Rasa” with works by Arvo Pärt. The upcoming 40th anniversary this fall will be marked with some special campaigns, including composers such as Steve Reich, Valentin Silvestrov, Tigran Mansurian, Heinz Holliger, György Kurtág, and outstanding performers such as Gidon Kremer, and András Schiff.
"Thanks to its insistence on clarity of expression — as well as clarity of sound —
the German label ECM Records has, since 1969, helped shape the way we listen to jazz and contemporary classical music"
New York Times
Other labels with which Qobuz has partnered for unique marketing campaigns include Zappa Records, Westbound Records, Secretly Group, International Anthem and Mercury KX.
